The Decline of the American Male
Co-authored with George B. Leonard, Jr. and William Attwood

Random House in 1958 converted a series of three probing articles in Look into a small but sprightly book called The Decline of the American Male that raised a number of questions and turned up even more smiles.

The articles were written by three Look staff editors and illustrated with a scalpel by the well-known and appreciated Robert Osborn.  The articles that became chapters were titled: “Why do Women Dominate Him?” by J. Robert Moskin; “Why is He Afraid to be Different?” by George B. Leonard, Jr.;  and “Why Does He Work so Hard?” by William Attwood.

The effect of the series lasted through the decades and caused many an American male to turn and stare at himself again in the mirror.
